So far only Mexico does report death due to this flue. The number of cases reported is rather low, considering that this virus has moved and spread over 72 hours now.

Actually, Mexico noticed a high rate of respiratory illnesses earlier, and started monitoring it on March 18th.  They only sent samples for testing April 22nd.  So, yeah, considering that, the death rate is really quite low.

are most of these samples send to Winnipeg.  I understand most of the testing for North America is being done there

One thing about it, if it gets real bad in Atlanta, I hear we have 250,000 FEMA coffins ready nearby, just waiting in a field for more than a year.  Imagine that!  Swine flu.  I read more about it here:  http://www.legitgov.org/#breaking_news

I think you're going to have your hands full, trying to keep this up to date.

Dr. Robert Webster at St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis calls it "...a real super-mixed-up virus," adding, "where the hell it got all these genes from we don't know...The scary thing is that this virus seems enormously transmissible,"

Additional statistical info here, now reported occurrences in 23 countries.

"The scary thing is that this virus seems enormously transmissible,"   Hey sorry but lets be realistic wow and carm down please!

The virus is more transmissible to humans than other strains of Swine Flue, this does not mean its more contagious than a cold.

I sit back not normally commenting on media hyped Pandemic's. But I had read somewhere that flue past on to humans from animals normal the virus get weaker if passed on by the infect human to a new human host. At present I would not panic as the number of infection over 15 days is not that high enought to warrant panic its not spreading that fast to cause such fears at present.

But of course governments should always take good precausionary care.

Another one of those case maps.

Homeland security - Janet NAPOLITANO SAYS US SHOULD SHOULD PREPARE FOR NEW FLU OUTBREAK SOON EVEN IF THIS ONE FIZZLES OUT. She has also confirmed the US is in a public health emergency - which means all constitutional  rights are susupended in order to limit the spread.

- read something about that today, incubation period of about a month before the bird part/avian/h5n1 DNA starts to kick in. Then its the spanish flu all over again :( you know the one that infected billons, the one they went to dig up to get a pure form so they could play/weaponise it?

What are the statistics of deaths from drunk drivers, drug overdoses, or murders by drug users? We have to quantine ourselves from those threats. Are they larger or smaller than the deaths from the swine flu?

Edith

These are not updated statistics....because there was already one death here in the USA in Texas yesterday....
