MUSSOORIE, 12 Apr: A symposium on the benefits of Naturopathy in health care was organised here on Saturday under the aegis of Ayush Medical Association, Department of Ayush, Union Ministry of Health.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr Hari Mohan Goyal and the special invitee was Jaiprakash Uttarakhandi, the President of the Mussoorie Press Club. Dr Neeraj Singhal, General Secretary MAM, said on the occasion that breaking the natural laws is the root cause of suffering in modern lives. Providing an overview of what Naturopathy was all about, he said, “Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a system based on the healing power of nature. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopathic doctors strive to find the cause of the disease by understanding the patient as a totality of body, mind, and spirit. Most naturopathic doctors use a wide variety of therapies and techniques (such as nutrition, herbal medicine, homoeopathy, and acupuncture).
He also said that there were two areas of focus in naturopathy: one supported the body's own healing abilities, and the other was empowering individuals to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health. While naturopathic doctors treated, both, short bouts of illness and chronic conditions, their emphasis was on prevention of disease and patient education. for more click
