Jokes aside, approximately 18 500 defective stud finders have been sold in Canada over the past two years.  These handy little devices are able to detect where the studs(wooden supports) are through the drywall.  The Stanley Stud Sensor 200 and the Stanley Fat Max Stud Sensor 400 are being recalled because they may fail to detect electric wires behind the wall covering, posing a shock hazard.

Full Product Description
This recall involves the Stud Sensor 200 and FatMax®Stud Sensor 400 that were sold under the brand name Stanley®. The sensors are made of black plastic and have a wide yellow stripe down the centre. The words "Stanley" or "FatMax" are printed on the front of the product. The recalled products have model numbers 77-720 and 77-730, which can be located in a slide-out reference guide on the base of the sensor's handle.

Contact Stanley for a free replacement.
