Veterinary Pet Insurance released the list of top dog and cat names of 2009. This year, the most popular dog name is also the name of a popular novel/movie character. Yes, that's right, it's Bella.

The most popular cat name is still Max, as it has been for many years, but Bella is the 3rd most popular in 2009.

Traditionally, Max was the most popular name for both dog and cat in the past, but Twilight certainly changed that. In 2008, Bella became the 3rd most popular dog name, as well as the 8th most popular cat name, according to the same survey.

However, the survey by Veterinary Pet Insurance only include pets insured by the company, which excludes a significant number of furry domestic animals.
