Trista Joy Lathern Accused of Faking Cancer to Pay for Boob Job
Trista Joy Lathern from Texas is charged with theft by deception today and for faking that she had cancer to pay for a boob job.
Trista Joy Lathern, 24, is charged with taking thousands of dollars from people that raised the money to help her pay for breast cancer treatment and she spent the money on a boob job instead. She never even had breast cancer to begin with.
Trista even shaved her head to look like she was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation to treat her cancer. A fundraiser was held in her honor where friends and family raised over $10,000, so she has been charged with theft by deception over $1,500 but under $20,000.

Anyone who donated money or who attended the benefit are asked to call their local sheriff. Trista's bond is currently set at $7,500.
The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating after an attorney who represents a local plastic surgeon told a detective that Lathern had consulted with the doctor about breast augmentation, but never mentioned her breast cancer, according to a police affidavit.
The surgeon did report that the money Trista gave him for a down payment he thought might be stolen.
Trista did have a small mass removed in February that was found to be benign and Lanthern later confirmed this.
“Trista said she and her husband had been (having) marital problems and she thought telling him she had cancer would bring them closer together,” the affidavit said. It goes on,"Trista confesses that she gave $3,500 to a local plastic surgeon for an augmentation and later had a bilateral breast augmentation performed in Austin, Texas, costing approximately $6,800."
Trista's husband maintains that he didn't know she didn't have cancer until the day she spoke to a detective.
