Johnson & Johnson's McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit broadened Tylenol recall because of complaints of a musty, moldy odor in some Tylenol products. As of Jan 15 2010, McNeil has expanded the Tylenol recall to include certain product lots of Tylenol, Mortin, Benadryl Allergy Ultratab, Rolaids Antacid Tablets, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph products.

Just days before the New Year, McNeil announced a voluntary recall for all lots of Tylenol Arthritis Pain Caplet 100 Count with EZ-Open cap. The affected products have a moldy, musty smell, because of the presence of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). Some reported symptoms of nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. The chemical is associated with the treatment of wooden pallets used to transport and store product packaging materials.

Back in September 2009, McNeil announced a major recall for infant and children's Tylenol.

The product affected in the Tylenol Recall 2010 were sold in the Americas, the United Arab Emirates, and Fiji.

The complete Tylenol Recall 2010 List from McNeil product recall's official website:

Consumers who purchased product from the lots included in this recall should stop using the product and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare for instructions on a refund or replacement. For these instructions or information regarding how to return or dispose of the product, consumers should log on to the internet at www.mcneilproductrecall.com or call 1-888-222-6036 (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time, and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time).

None of the links work...how are we supposed to find out what the tainted lot numbers are?!?!?!

I checked all of the links and they all work.  It must be something with your computer.  Good luck.

Under the "complete tylenol recall list" you spelled "Motrin" as "Mortin".  This may confuse some people.

The links are all working fine for me.  Try clearing your cache or restarting your computer.

I have 3 Tylenol's, now what's next?  How do I return these items.  What's the normal procedure.  I went to www.mcneilproductrecall.com but it does not tell you what to do next.  They ask you to call their toll free number but it's non stop busy.  Thanks.

My son is in hospital drs giving him 650mg's of reg Tylenol. I am wondering if the recall is issued strictly to OTC or to everywhere. Also wondering about T3 if this is effected.

OTC only it is actually the packaging not the product that is the issue in this recall.

My daughter had a really bad headache and I gave her children's tylenol and for the next few days she was complaining about having a stomache ache and she had really bad gas, that had that rotten egg smell, sorry little graphic, anyway I just assumed she was just not feeling good, but I turn on the TV and see that tylenol is recalled for those very symptoms, I go to pharmacy and find out yep her tylenol was recalled, my child was taken contaminated tylenol for a headache and ended up with something else.  I went to the doctors to get it on paper just in case it does lead to something else more than just gastro like the media is saying.  Gonna call the number also but I heard that people are having a hard time getting someone on phone.  Will let everyone know what happens.  Also, spoke to alot of people and they didn't know Tylenol was recalled and they also have been taking it and all of them have had diarrhea and vomiting as well as gas.  I think there are alot more cases out there but people just don't know about it.

I been sick for the past three weeks. I  have headaches, stomach ache, chest pains, vomiting, nausea ,neck ache and gas. I been going to the Dr. the first time he said I was dehydrated and have high blood pressure, so he told me to drink a lot of liquids, and to eat, and that he would see me the following week. I went the following week and he didnt have an answer for me, but gave me high blood pressure pills, and antibiotics to kill an infection because i was still cramping from my stomach. So now i have to go next week to see what he says...but i am still feeling bad.

I had all the symptoms you was haveing, except I was sick for like 3 days every week for 5-6 mths. I went to my Dr. and she gave me a Flu shot because this was around the time the H1N1 was going around. Well what do ya know I am a member @ Sam's Club and if you bought or buy a recalled product they send you a letter, and so they did. That's how I found out about the recall, I stopped takeing the Tylenol extra strength rapid relaese and guess what all the symptoms I was haveing I no longer have. I was scared and thought maybe I had some serious illness or cancer because i was always sick, I had an out break of psoriasis due to being dehydrated from vomiting and diareah. Got fever blisters on the inside of my lips due to a fever from the Tylenol. I think it's a damn shame people have pain and suffer because no one knew it was a product like Tylenol to make you feel better the whole time's makeing you sicker than a dog.

I have taken the recalled tylenol for 3 weeks. In addition to the cramping, diarrea there is also a rash and itch associated with the fungus chemical. they keep adding to the re-call list however, what I checked 2 weeks ago now comes up as being recalled. I have taken 90% of them. How do you cofirm the lot number as being recalled. I have contacted McNeill about 6 times and still have no answers or any coupons.  I received $10.00 which doesn't even cover the cost of the tylenol. It is your responsibility to let the public know about the TRUE side effects of this fungus. It is not mild as is stated. I am still suffering for this condition and may have to go to a dermatologist to get any relief.

You've been taking Tylenol for three weeks?!  That's too much - even of an untainted medicine.  I hope you feel better.

THERE IS A LIST, GO TO MCNEIL RECALLS AND YOU WILL FIND IT , IT EVEN HL AS A WINDOW WHERE YOU CAN TYPE IN YOUR LOT #S. TO SEE IF IT IS ONE THAT WAS RECALLED. tHE STORES SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND KEEP UP ON THE ORDERS THEY PUT ON THE SHELVES. SOME ARE STILL ON THE SHELF. SO THE EXPLANATION IS A CHEMICAL TREATMENT USED ON A WOOD PALLET THAT MOVES ALONG  PILLS, HAS CAUSED REACTIONS IN PEOPLE. IT ALSO TELLS YOU TO INFORM YOU,THAT IT WOULD HAVE A MOLDY SMELL. IT IS A FUNGUS. THEY SHOULD AGREE MORE., TO PUT ON THE NEWS WITH A SITE AND PHONE # TO CALL. I DID SEE WHERE A PERSON SAID THEY SPOKE WITH A COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE REGARDING RECALL, ILLNESS AND MONEY BACK. MY QUES TION IS : IS IT ADDED TO THE STORE, AND GENERIC BRANDS OR OTHER TYLENOL PRESCRIPTIONS SUCH AS TYLENOL 3 &4 OR PHRENYLIN FOR ONE EXAMPLE. I ALSO FOUND IT IS IN BENEDRYL AND OTHER PRODUCTS. AND IF YOU HAVE COPD, YES IT COULD AFFECT THAT ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGIC REACTION FOR GOSH SAKES PEOPLE.

I didn't even know there was a recall. I haven't seen it on the news at all.  I went to wal-mart to by Tylenol PM and they didn't have any.  I checked at Target and they didn't have Tylenol as well.  When I got home I searched Tylenol on the internet and found out that way that it was recalled.  It's a shame that it isn't made more public since it is a common OTC pain reliever and that the stores don't have anything posted on the shelves about the recall.

I discovered this recall by accident. Why don't they publicize something like this? Also, maybe it's just me, but it's not clear which number on the bottle is the Lot No and the website doesn't clearly show this. There's a number over the bar code; I typed that in and got a message saying it wasn't recalled. Then I typed in another number, under the EXP date, and that, too, got me a no recall messaged. So if someone doesn't know which number to enter, they might get a false OK.

I too, found out of the recall through my husband when he tried to purchase tylenol at Walmart. I watch the news just about everyday and I have not heard anything. Something like this needs to be publicized more than once or twice just as they publicize all about the lifes of the actors and athletes on the news. This is plain ridiculous that you have to find out like this and then research and verify on it through the internet.  I had already received a forward on my email but wasnt sure to believe it or not.  My response to that email was "if this was true it would have been all over the news".  I have checked the lots on my medicine in my cabinet and none are recalled.  I have given tylenol to my 15 year old daughter recently and she has not gotten sick.  So I'm thinking its okay.
