British doctors have issued a call for a total ban on alcohol ads to help fight “dangerous drinking culture” in the UK. Doctors blame heavy alcohol advertising for an increasing number of young Britons who drink.  They also call for the removal of ads from billboards and television as well as art and sport events.

Our society is awash with pro-alcohol messaging and marketing," Dr. Vivienne Nathanson, the association's head of science and ethics, said in a statement.
The association also recommended higher alcohol taxes, setting a minimum price on a unit of alcohol and reducing the opening hours of pubs and bars.
