The winter vomiting virus bug, otherwise called Norovirus, has started to create problems with hospitals and GPs reporting an increasing number of patients presenting with symptoms attributable to this bug.
There have been instances of wards being forced to close to contain this outbreak. Not unusual for this time of the year, people have been advised to stay at home, keep themselves warm, maintain good hand hygiene and have also been encouraged to take in loads of fluids. Specially susceptible to this are the very young and very old.
NHS staff absenteeism has also seen an increase this month.
