There are 53,000 children (and increasing) got sick from contaminated milk powder. It is contaminated with poisonous plastic melamine, a substance which was responsible for pet death cases early 2007. Melamine is used in rat poison, and it was found in pet food.
I heard that Melamine was added to increase the protein level. Not for the benefit of the consumers, but to cheat.
The involved brands now include Dutch Lady. When you look at the brand name, you wouldn't think it is made in China. And Nestle as well.
The involved products do not limit to baby milk powder. Some icecream and icicle products now are found to be contaminated. And White Rabbit. I know some of you (including myself) love White Rabbit candies. I'm not sure if any of you are aware of this incident. I think I should post here.
