The best way to protect yourself aganst swine influenza is just as for ordinary flu - wash your hands often.

Good hand hygiene with soap, water and hand alcohol reduces the risk of becoming infected.

If you have symptoms - especially after travel in affected areas - you have to contact your health care in order to take blood tests.

A mouth guard can prevent salvia from spreadin, and prevent you from getting virus by touching your mouth with your fingers. But a mouth guard don´t really has any major effect on infection.

Virus-inhibiting drugs can prevent that the infection breaks out or mitigate symptoms in individuals.

Against the spread of infection to the community, you need vaccine, which is alleged to take at least 3 months to obtain.

Antibiotics have no effect against influenza beacuse antibiotics kill bacteria and not virus.

Antibiotics can be inserted in the bacteriological consequent, such as pneumonia.

I have picked up this information from a Swedish news channel - Nyhetskanalen.
