When Mother love is not enough.
I have just watched a documentary program,Entitled; When Mother love is not enough.
The main focus of the story were mothers who have to endure a hectic and soul destroying task of looking after children with autism, blindness and many other ailments.
The mothers interveiwed all had the same thing in common, they loved their children,no doubt about that. However the program opened up the exstreem difficulties these woman have in copeing with their children
.
I have not met anyone on this planet who likes to hear the sound of a baby cry. except at Birth. My own children who are healthy happy adults now,at times when toddlers, could drive my mind into the most frustrating angst. I was lucky my frustrations would pass quickly when I resolved the reasons for their upset.
Parents of children with difficulties,do not have it so easy. Sleepless night after night plays many tricks on the mind. One woman admitted shaking her baby in sheer desperation ,she was of course remorsefull,at what she called her lack of control.
There have been much publications highliting the baby shaking syndrome. after listening to the distraught and exhausted mothers,I could not help, but wonder why these parents do not get the support they need to rid themselves of the exhausting task they face everyday. There are respite programs available, where the kids can be taken to a specialist centre for a short period of time, this helps the parents have a bit of free time to catch up on their well deserved rest. Life is no easy ride for anyone, however parents who have to endure the daily routine, which for many is emotionally and physically exhausting,
Really do need better arrangements to keep healthy; in mind body and spirit.
Fathers of such kids are living on a call button, never knowing when their child has seizures and other inccidents. The program focused mainly on the mother love aspect, because the woman interveiwed were left to deal with the situation alone, being single parents. The pressures of looking after kids, who are healthy can in many inncidents be difficult, however after watching this documentary,I feel the kids as well as the parents do not get the help they most certainly need,to try and create a happy loving home.
I once knew a couple who had a child with autism,as fit careing and loving parents, they told me they were permanately unhappy and exhausted. This has put a different slant on the woman who lose control and shake or harm their child.I find myself questionong if jail is the proper answer to try and resolve these womans problems. I sigh.! and think there for the grace of god go I.
