White Racism and Black Racism
The relationship between white Americans and black Americans has been a difficult one; and the reasons for that can be found in both sides. A lot of white Americans believe that the white people are better than the black people, and a lot of black Americans believe that white people are evil. With America having a black president who is doing a good enough job, the idea of black people's inferiority is becoming less credible. And with millions of white Americans having voted for this black president, so is the idea of white people being evil.
One thing said by a friend of mine has been that both white racists and black racists are standing in the way of the rest of us. I have every reason to support that claim. Both white racists and black racists are interfering with positive relations between the races. And that is a very destructive and unnatural state of affairs.
There are some who claim racism to be natural. I have every reason to say that it isn't. My daughter's first social interaction, at age 1, was coming up to a little Malaysian girl and giving her a hug. So no, racism is not natural. It is a stupid and wrongful ideology. And that is the case both with white racism and black racism.
One frequently quoted motto from black racists is "no justice, no peace." The problem is, that the "war" hurts the black people without hurting the white people. Most white people simply don't care what happens in places such as the South Central LA. The victims become one's brothers. So when Coolio writes, "Why are we so blind to see that the ones we hurt are you and me?", he is right.
I am saying these things while being in no way a racist. Some of my best friends are black, and I've been part of cultural organizations that were majority black. I want black people to succeed. I want black people to do well. Being a gangster is not the way to do it.
A friend of mine was approached by a black man and told that she was a racist. She said, "No, you are a racist." She was right. A black person who attacks a white person he knows nothing about because she is white is in fact being a racist. Whereas this woman, who has done a lot to fight prejudice among white people, is in no way a racist and should not be subjected to such wrongful attacks.
When black people attack white people who wish them well, they are only empowering the white people who wish them ill. This irresponsible behavior hurts the case of the white people who want the best for the black people and empowers the case of those white people who want black people oppressed. It is stupid, irresponsible and destructive; and black people should know enough not to act in such foolish manner.
The white man was not born the ruler of the world; he had to work for it. Black people should be able to do the same thing. With America having a black president, there is no longer the case that the white man rules everything. Black people can rise as high as they want to. It is up to them to figure out how to do just that.
