Can someone explain why many salads at Japanese take-out restaurants end up being a handful of chopped iceberg lettuce and some carrot shreds? As much as I frequent Kokyo (have to admit to the great value of the sushi) this offering is always a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the fact that it accompanies a meal is great. I just wonder why many restaurants call this a "salad." Oh and look, more mayo based salad dressing (I think there's more dressing than weight in lettuce leaves).
