Every nation is trying hard to stop smokers from smoking cigarettes or if not stop should not smoke at public places. This is because cigarette is most dangerous for health. The UN is also trying the same in its part. But why not nations of the world destroy cigarette factories in their own respective countries and why not the UN command nations to destroy cigarette factories and the production of cigarettes in their countries if there is already a consensus on the danger of smoking?

I am smoker. I frequently tried to stop. But when I pass through a cigarette shop, I am influenced to buy and smoke. If there was no any cigarette in my peripherals, I could definitely stop smoking.

There is a conflicting interest of nations. They like to build human capital whose health protected and physically strong on the one hand and build financial capital (tax coming from cigarette companies) on the other. Why such conflicting interest by nations or governments appointed to safeguard their societies from danger including health dangers?

I think it would be great to be rid of the repulsive things for ever, but A) I don't think it is within the UN's jurisdiction to command nations to destroy cigarette factories, and B) Having no more commercially available cigarettes would fuel the black market for them which would lead to gang violence and far more work for the police.  Yes it would be great to get rid of cigarettes entirely, but in my opinion, the only way to do it is the hard way.  Making them too expensive through taxes and persuading people to quit through advertising.

Marijuana, cocaine and heroine are illegal in most countries. That doesn't stop people from buying them.If you eliminate the tobacco industry in one country, immediately you'll create an illegal market. At least with the legal market the country gets a lot of tax money to pay for cigarette-smoking-related-illnesses treatment and for education against tobacco consumption.Do your part. Be strong and stop smoking. There are some medicines to help you with that. Ask your doctor. But mostly it boils down to your will power.

I understand smoking will not completely vanish even if cigarette factories are ride off from every nations, but the number of smakers will definitely reduce by, at least, 50%.

Increasing the price of cigarettes cannot be a good solution. If smokers do not aford buying cigarettes, they will move stealing creating another social problem!

The human brain is easily addictive and will resort to any means to enjoy the pleasures of nicotine.
