WIJA Breast Exam Video Shows Naked Breasts on WIJA TV (video)
WIJA in Washington DC, a division of ABC News, is causing some controversy today because they have aired a video of breast exams on women instead of charts.
The two-part series looks up-close-and-personal at self breast exams and WIJA feels that it will be more useful to women if they are shown on real women and not just on charts.
Baring naked breasts on TV has often been a taboo subject but there are situations such as this one where it will be more beneficial to do so.
The series is set to air during the fall "sweeps," but WJLA tells the Associated Press that it's not just a naked attempt to boost ratings.
The series will be called Touch of Life: The Guide to Self-breast Examination.
In their research they found that most women don't know how to do a self-breast exam, which should be done every month just a few days after your period ends, or if you are post-menopausal, you should do it on the same day each month.
In the video, you will see how to look at your breasts to see any changes and then take the pads of three of your fingers to feel your breast for any changes or lumps. Also, don't forget your armpit and your nipple.
The video explains it better and gives you a visual to learn from.
Remember, breast cancer knows no age.
