"They broke him," Sgt. John Russel's father, Wilburn Russell, 73, said, wiping away tears. His son suffers from acute PTSD after three consecutive deployments into combat in the War on Terror and is charged with murder for shooting five comrades during a psychotic episode. Before the shooting, Russell had e-mailed his wife to tell her "his life was over," his father said.
