Wisconsin Cheeseman is recalling cheese products that it purchased from Parkers Farm, Inc. because of the danger of contamination by Listeria bacteria.  Parkers Farm, Inc. has recently had a large recall of product as a result of sampling done by government officials.

The Wisconsin Cheeseman® Food Gifts Impacted by Recall:
Sausage 'N Cheese Logs – Gift #11
Cheese Logs & Cutting Board – Gift #87
Smorgasbord – Gift #325
Cheese Log Trio – Gift #365
Cheese Logs – Gift #411
Cheese Ball Trio – Gift #441
Cheese Logs – Gift #509
Snacker Pack – Gift #751
Cheese Balls & Sausages – Gift #876

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the Wisconsin Cheeseman products.  If you have any of the above products, do no consume them.  Return them to the vendor where you purchased them.
Listeria monocytogenes do not make food smell or taste off.  The bacteria can cause a range of illness from very mild through to death.  Unborn babies are at particular risk for damage from Listeria monocytogenes.

Best to buy from a local dairy instead of an unknown corporate

My sister-in-law became seriously ill with listeria just at Christmas after consuming these products which she received as a gift.  She subsequently missed a lot of work and of course the opportunity to enjoy the holiday.  She received a recall letter last weekend and I'm sure will be contacting someone very soon.

I ate a whole container of Parker Farms Port Wine cheese  after I purchased it on 12//17/09. I received a call from Shoprite in my area on Jan9th advising me that it contained Listeria and was being recalled. I jumped onto the internet and found scary description of Listeria, I am elderly and in a comprmiseed immune group. Each day I worry that any of the many symptoms may be a death knell. I learned that that sympotms can take as many as 90 days after consumption to appear.... The stress I live  with now due to this recall, is terrifying. I understand there is nothing that can be doneto treat this bacteria, until symptoms appear. Is there anything I can  do now to prevent myself from  this fatal bacteria other than wait 90 days.... Please let others know about this. Thank you. Audrey S. in Suffern, New York
