Women and Conmen

There appears to be a trend of men, who are mostly labeled as sociopaths, charming independent women and then bankrupting, severely injuring, or abusing these women. My question to the conventional analysis of such situations is, What has caused this sociopath population explosion? All things being equal things happen at rate of chance; which means that there is no likelihood of there being more sociopaths per unit of population now than at any other time.

There is however a more feasible explanation, based on things that are found prevalent more now than in the past. And it is as follows: There are more independent women. These women make prime target for any kind of shysters. The main reason for that is that they, being independent women, are hated by conservative societies. Which means that the world hates them and sees them as deviants or as enemies, making it much harder for them to get aid against any wrongdoing that anyone does to them.

Because of this, independent women are likely to attract into their lives two kinds of undesirables. One is the people who want to punish them for their lifestyle. The other is the people who want to exploit the situation to get away with wrongs unthinkable in any other place. Because these women are already hated and seen as deviants, a conman - whether or not bearing the title of "sociopath" - can get away with injuring these women, abusing these women, or getting from them whatever he wants to get without compensating them appropriately. And not only would such a conman's wrongs be likely to go unpunished, but he would get positive attention from men and even women in conservative societies - for hurting, destroying or "putting into her place" an independent woman who has chosen to lead her life in a manner distinct from how they want women to behave.

Which makes an issue more clear than how it is frequently seen. The conmen come into the lives of independent women because they see an opportunity to do wrongs and to be, for these wrongs, unpunished - and not only unpunished but in many cases rewarded by the conservative societies. And for as long as there are substantial conservative societies that want to imprison women in the custody of their abusers, we will continue see these and related abuses against such women by different kinds of scum.

Are most of such conmen sociopaths? Probably a few would carry such a diagnosis. But the more reasonable way to refer to them is simply as this: Conmen.

Of which not now, not ever, was there a shortage of supply.
