YES WE CAN -- AND YES WE DID!
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY FOR AMERICA and for the world. Yesterday, Senator Obama lost his grandmother. But perhaps somehow, she knows and is smiling with many of us on this historic day. Senator Obama has accepted his nomination as the President Elect! Congratulations to President Elect Obama and his family, Vice President Elect Biden and his family, and to all the people who worked so hard for their success! Congratulations to the citizens of many nations who were rooting for the victory of the Democratic Party.
All year I have asked the question, "Can't we all just get along?" Today I got my answer:
YES WE CAN -- AND YES WE DID!
President Elect Obama started as a community organizer in Chicago, and health care is one of his main concerns. Vice President Elect Biden is a mental health advocate. We can hope that when it comes to imprisoning mental patients for reason of their disabilities, things might be about to CHANGE!

Since it is so quiet around here at NowPublic today (out celebrating last night I hope!), I thought I'd share a comment from a friend on Care2.
Dear Mary,
I too am sooooo very happy about this news. I have never voted before nor had my boyfriend, but, we both felt as though we were being compelled to use our voices and vote for Obama this campaign. I feel as though he is going to bring about so much good change in our Country with Gods help of course! Thank you in sharing this amazing event with me. I was thinking of you last night as he took the stage and wondering how happy you must have been...it is nice to see thst dreams really do come true! Hopefully, this will bring much needed unity to our Country. As a couple of opposite races, my boyfriend and I have had our share of uncomfortable looks and comments. Hopefully, with Obama as president we will unite as one force for peace and hatred will fall to the wayside. Big hugs and much love to you my friend!!

Thank you, Caj1! I heard the journalists talking on TV tonight. Everyone sounded so happy. One journalist reported that even Republicans who did not vote for Obama seemed relieved. For the first time in years, I completely believe the news.
