I want to share some good news with you!  You are helping the imprisoned mental patients in America!  When you read my articles, flag them, and make your comments, all of this is helping the incarcerated mentally ill.  It all serves to make the plight of incarcerated mental patients more visible.

See the results of our efforts - YOURS and mine - at this link (Google "Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill," and take a close look at the SPAAMI links you will see, also).

See at the link below how many articles I published on NowPublic.com subsequently became Front Page News at Care2News Network, which has approximately nine million members and sends its online news directly the email boxes of subscribers.  (All Care2 readers must access the original article at NowPublic to read it in full.)

Elected officials care about what voters care about, and voters can only care about the things they know about.  Unfortunately, it is not widely known that of the 2.3 MILLION Americans in prison, approximately 1.25 MILLION of them are mental patients.  But YOU are helping to make this atrocity well known, and I believe it will serve to help many people and their worried families.  Perhaps it will even help a family escape the pain and suffering of my family over the secret arrest and wrongful death of Larry Neal (see http://wrongfuldeathoflarryneal.com )

I have no budget, as many organizations do.  I only have you, the Internet news sites and the public, to help get this news out front.  But God is able to use whatever we have in order to accomplish His purpose, and He has said of the mental patients, "Let my people go."  Not all of the incarcerated mentally ill are able to live within the community, of course.  Some of our sick citizens have done violent crimes and should be relocated into secure mental hospitals, not released.  But tens of thousands of the incarcerated mentally ill prisoners may have done little more than become vagrants, and they are now suffering in prison instead of receiving treatment in their communities.

If you would try to DIGG my articles or use one of the other services that boost their visibility on the Internet, it would help immensely.  As you may know from other articles I wrote, my work on this issue is highly censored because of the wrongful death cover-up involving my brother, Larry, and The Johnnie Cochran Firm.  (See YouTube - Cochran Firm Fraud videos 1 and 2.)

Most acute mental patients do not understand they are sick, and have a tendancy to discontinue therapy once they exit hospitals and jails.  Therein lies the problem that causes them to re-enter the justice system over and over.  Enforced treatment, at least during their parole or probation period, is required to stop this senseless revolving door that has entraped many of our most vulnerable citizens, even teenagers.

Please read about the son of an AIMI member, 14 years of age and facing incarceration for reason of his mental dysfunction.  Please help her and her young son if you can!  Please save this innocent child from a life spent inside prison, naked, isolated, abused, possibly Tasered to death some day!  Pray and help, and continue to work to change the way mental patients are treated.  They need to be treated as patients, not criminals!

When you read this anguished mother's letter below, click on her initials - they are a link to her page.  Visit and see that these are REAL PEOPLE who love their mentally disturbed sons and daughters, spouses and friends!  Can't we do better for our mental patients, please, than homelessness, prison, and death?  Even in his clinical environment, this child did not get the psychiatric intervention needed.

I can't write too much right now. I am not online at the house yet. I put in a complaints against the Level IV facility my son is in due to medical negligence (amongst other things) and now my son is going to be "unsuccessfully discharged," which will be considered his fault and taken back to court and put into Juvenile Detention.

I had been trying to have him moved for 4 months now, but our Case Management or PO has not done anything to put in applications all that time, so now he has to go to jail. I guess we'll have a lawyer and I hope he will argue that my son was doing very well there until the dr. stopped seeing him and the facility neglected to reschedule these appointments.

Please pray for him that we can find a place near home soon and for my strength. I am exhausted, angry, anxious, etc. Thank You for listening. I will get back online as soon as I can. I have messaged Mary will my telephone #.

Peace,

C.C.

UPDATE - 1/25/08

Teenage Mental Patient Was Transferred from Mental Health Facility to Prison

Greetings to All~

Well, William has been in detention now for a week. I get to talk to him for 3 minutes each evening. We go to court on Tuesday.

I have received a phone call from his court counselor that he has been 'turned down' for admission to the newer level IV facility near us.

There is a possibility (I doubt much) that he may get a chance to go one in Marion, Virginia which is 6 hr drive from our home (one way). If he doesn't get in there, the court counselor says "he has no other choice" than to send him to training school, and there he would stay until his 18th birthday. This training school, will be about 2hr to 10hr drive here in NC (closest being 2 hr away, one way).

I am told there are no other alternatives available for a child like William.

To be honest with you, I don't know what to do. I have researched online also, and the only Psychiatric Hospitals that serve his age group are short-term only.

More to Come...C C A.

UPDATE - Feb. 2009

CC's son was transferred from the mental health facility to a juvenile detention center.  Just 14-years-of age, and this child is already being criminalized for being mentally disturbed.  His mother was so stressed that she became physically ill.  IF nothing happens to increase his sentence, her son will be dismissed in July.

There were several incidents reported recently involving police, Tasers, and Autistic children as young as 10 years of age.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  ~ Matthew 25:37-40

PRIVATE PRISON PROFITEERS, please get ready!  It is time to consider reinvestment in mental hospitals and community health centers for America's incarcerated mentally ill.  Like Noah told his generation to get ready for rain, I promise you that nonviolent mental patients will be leaving prison soon, followed by the violent ones as soon as high security hospital space is available. Think about it, please, and don't wait until it starts sprinkling!

We have a mental health care advocate headed for the White House as VP, Senator Joe Biden.  And even if we did not, we have a powerful God who has heard the midnight cries of mothers all over America, and He has said, "Enough."

Make honest money.  Treat mental patients, don't punish them.

Blessings,

Mary
