AMSTERDAM — A violent storm will hit the Netherlands on Thursday
morning, bringing with it wind gusts of up to 110kmh along the coast.

The wind gusts will pose the greatest danger and are expected to be at their strongest at about midday in the coastal provinces.

Meteorology bureau KNMI issued a pre-storm warning on Tuesday. It
said there is a 60 percent chance that it will issue a full storm
warning.

A storm warning is issued at its earliest, 12 hours before the storm is expected to hit.

The storm is linked to the warm January weather.

"There is a depression hovering above Scotland. That is pushing warm
air this way, so that it becomes warmer here. After that the storm
develops by itself," KNMI Harry Geurts said.[/q]
