High winds gusting to more than 100 kilometers per hour struck part of the Bragg Creek area last night, slashing power and crashing trees into the ground. Some areas were hit harder than others, with power interruptions that continued into this afternoon and mild to severe damage to buildings. Residents say they can't remember a more severe wind storm hitting the area than last night's. It will take days to clear up the debris, mend roofs and fill in the holes left by uprooted root balls where trees were literally pulled right out of the ground. However one resident looked at the bright side of things by observing that he now has enough wood for his fireplace to last for the rest of his life.
