NP Rank:
Hikers Should Get Educated, Not Rescued
Every summer, dozens of hikers get lost or injured in the North Shore Mountains because they've failed to prepare. This weekend, the organizations involved in rescuing them are planning to change that.
Representatives from the British Columbia Ambulance Service, the District of North Vancouver Fire Rescue Service, North Shore Rescue, Grouse Mountain Vancouver, the provincial AdventureSmart program and others are inviting the public to attend a free hiker safety seminar at the foot of Grouse Mountain Vancouver Saturday and Sunday. The idea is to teach backwoods adventurers what they need to do before and during any hike to ensure they get home safely. Learn more >>
