As the national rate moved in opposition, home foreclosures in the areas of Chicago skyrocketed 57% in April.

In
April, nationwide foreclosure rate was 10% lower than the previous
month. Illinois reported an April rate of 40% higher rate than March.
In Cook County, the home foreclosure rate for April was 66% higher than
the previous month. This is 2.4 times higher than the national average.

The
area that had the highest increase was Cane County. It reported 143%
increase from March and had 170 properties in foreclosure stage. In
DuPage County, April had an increase of 50% while Lake County had 606
homes, which represented 26% increase. Almost 95% of properties that
are on foreclosure stage all came from the Chicago area.
