EDMONTON - Housing Minister Ray Danyluk says he has ordered that a fence be erected around Edmonton's tent city for the protection of its homeless inhabitants and the protection of area residents.
No new tenters will be allowed to set up in the camp and anyone who leaves will not be allowed to return.
Danyluk says the ultimate goal is to eventually close the temporary refugee-style camp for Alberta's homeless, but for now the province will focus on ensuring the safety and security of residents.
