The talk after game 2 revolved around some outstanding pitching, the Tigers' dugout delivered. But last night in game 3 the Cardinals used a trump of their own as Chris Carpenter pitched 8 great innings to lead St. Louis to a 2-1 World Series lead.  And the Cardinals bullpen is not finished as they look to continue their climb towards shutting down a powerful Detroit offense, so far they have only allowed 5 runs in 3 games. Pitching, pitching, pitching!

Carpenter allowed only three base runners—all singles—and, with Braden Looper, shut out the AL champions en route to a 5-0 Game 3 victory. The last hit, Sean Casey's eighth-inning single, was erased when Brandon Inge hit into a double play, so the Tigers sent only 29 batters to the plate.
