Accordinig to a friend, fires on Table Mountain are quite common. In fact, the fynbos (type of vegetation) on the
mountain has evolved so that much of it cannot germinate without fire. Kind of
like parts of California, where houses burn down regularly because people insist
on building them in areas with fire loving plants.
