In my search for the Tokyo Police Club, a Toronto based and assembled band playing in San Fransisco on Saturday -- I found this website that lists the top 33, hottest bands in Canada. Tokyo is number #7.
There's really not much need for introduction to this. The concept is simple: like last year (and the American concept on which it was based), music writers, bloggers and radio hosts from across the country were invited to submit their ranked lists of the hottest bands and artists in Canada for 2006. Those rankings were then compiled into one larger list using a pretty straightforward point system (10 points for first on a list, 1 point for tenth, and 3 points for every list on which an artist appeared). For the one or two instances where there were ties, they were resolved by comparing the number of lists on which the artists were named.
