Here are several ways that Denver discourages people from using alternative transportation:

  • Have a light rail stop next to a busy, dangerous intersection (In this case, the intersection of Lipan Street and West Colfax Avenue, which is located adjacent to the busiest academic campus in the State of Colorado, the Auraria Campus) (see picture)

  • Have a walk light cycle that last only three seconds (Like the one at Lipan and West Colfax) (See picture)

  • Have only one walk light cycle every two and a half minutes, which encourages people to cross against the "Do not walk" light.

  • Do nothing to mitigate pedestrian danger at the extremely dangerous intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street

  • Have extremely narrow, pedestrian and bicycle unfriendly sidwalks (see picture with "Mint" sign, which is along busy West Colfax Avenue in Central Denver)
