Okay, this vehicle isn't a little engine! It's name is Little Ben and it is an autonomous vehicle, engineered by the faculty and students of the University of Pennsylvania (U of P) and Lehigh University. The car has advanced to the semi finals.

The University of Pennsylvania website states:

"Little Ben", a Toyota Prius, navigated a four-way intersection, followed basic navigation and traffic laws, avoided obstacles and reacted intelligently to events.

Little Ben will be one of the cars that will compete in qualifying trials in Victorville, California in October.

The U of P website also states that Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), “.... holds the Urban Challenge to foster the development of autonomous robotic ground vehicle technology, a goal of the not-too-distant future backed by an act of Congress.”
