I Served 24 Years In Prison For Murder
In 1970, at 26 years of age, I was sentenced to life imprisonment. As much as it was a shock to the system it wasn’t entirely unexpected. I had been an active criminal, heavily involved in armed robbery, as well as being a known ‘face’ in the underworld scene. Through long introspection and the studying of cases of other people who have committed very serious crimes, I've come to believe that there exists an elemental force for evil in the world. The corrolary of that, of course, is that there also exists an elemental force for good. With regards to both, I believe that it is possible for an individual to be ‘invaded’ by them. In my particular case, with hindsight, I can recall a ‘dark force’ or ‘beast’ that drove me towards committing murder. These mitigating factors do not excuse me from responsibility, and I am not seeking forgiveness. Yet I can provide insight into the nature of evil.
