Income-splitting is a great idea because it will ease the unhealthy tax burden on Canadian families. Canadians are too heavily taxed, and any relief will be more than welcome.

The NDP has also demonstrated, yet again, that it is completely out of touch:

The income-splitting proposal is opposed by the New Democrats, who say it is a tax cut that favours the wealthy.

What utter nonsense! According to the NDP, of course, everyone who makes more than $30,000 a year is "wealthy". No one can survive on $30,000 a year anymore in Canada, not in this day and age, not with the kind of taxes we're paying.

Income-splitting would help everyone in society, and those who are really wealthy (i.e., in the real sense, rather than in the NDP-imposed interpretation) would benefit very little, because at their level of income, they'll still pay through the nose even if they split the income with a spouse.

If the NDP had its way, everyone would live in subsidized housing and on a measly allowance.
