Indian shares rose more than 2 percent on Wednesday to close at their highest in over two weeks as investors picked bargains among mid-cap stocks.

Investors bought shares in companies like software firm Aftek Infosys Ltd., which rose 16.4 percent to 55.8 rupees, while diversified firm Escorts Ltd. gained nearly 10 percent to 70.5 rupees.
