Indian Railways Consultative commitees how many are aware about it
The 115th Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee Meeting was held at Chennai today (13.02.2007). Shri Thomas Varghese, General Manager, Southern Railway, who is the Chairman of the Committee, presided over the meeting. With a view to securing better representation of Railway Users' and affording more frequent opportunities for consultation between the Railway Administration and Users on matters relating to the service provided by the Railways and means of improving the efficiency of such service, the Government of India has established a Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee at Chennai, the Headquarters of this Railway. The function of the Committee is consultative in nature.
There are 62 Members as on date in Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee consisting of 10 Members of Parliament, one Member of Legislative Assembly representing each State and one State Government Official from each State and IGs of Railway Police from each State Government and representatives from Chambers of Commerce, Passengers' Associations, Consumer Protection Organisation, Public Sector Undertakings and Elected Members from Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee and nominees of Union Ministers and Railway Minister under Special Interest category.
