Internet Use to Kill Off NewsPapers, Is This News? by gryphon

I ran across a headline this morning titled: "Internet use could kill off local newspapers, study finds."  I was bewildered that this was still news at all.

I have not had a subscription to a paper print newspaper delivered to my home forover five years, and do not want one.  I get offers for free trials that last months, and I have to explain to a surprised customer rep, that I just dont want the extra trash.

If I want current events, I get it on NowPublic instantaneously.  By teh time someone copies the article from the net, sets the print, prints it, delivers it, this is completely old news to me.

If I want local news, I get it from the online version of the local paper, which by the way is an exact copy of teh print version.  I think they scan and pdf the thing in all honesty.  I can also get local classified ads there and find a local plumber.

The Newspaper has been dead for quite some time.  Declining subscriptions at all major newspapers are the empirical evidence of this fact.  I also do not see why someone would want to save the newspaper.  It is inefficient, cumbersome, and detrimental to our environmental goals.

The Internet news sources report on the demise of the newspaper, I wonder if teh newspaper reports on teh Internets' growth.
