iPhones sold out at most Apple stores

This according to Apple's website pre-visit information; for example 90% of stores in California are sold out, and both New York city stores, the 5th avenue and the Soho stores are now out of stock as of yesterday evening 9:00pm.

According to an AT&T spokesperson quoted 2 days ago, 
AT&T were nearly out of stock - so a good guess is that they are also now out
of stock; and another guess is that they may prefer not to publicize
this fact in the hope of switching sales to other cellphones.
