It's bound to make people think of iPods as a danger, even though in order to experience this type of injury you must simultaneously be hit by lightening. Nonetheless, be warned -according to the New England Journal of Medicine,  iPods and thunderstorms are "not a good idea".

Doctors are warning about the risks of personal stereo equipment after a Vancouver man listening to an iPod was zapped by lightning while jogging in a thunderstorm.

The 37-year-old man's ordeal is published in this week's New England Journal of Medicine under the title: Thunderstorms and iPods — Not a Good iDea.

I reckon that, more specifically, headphones were the real culprit. Were the device something other than an mp3 player, the result would have been the same...

Thanks, kate. You know what else isn't a good idea? Jogging in a thunderstorm.

This to me is like saying, "Doctors are warning against the risks of burning yourself when walking over hot coals."

I'll be here all week. Try the veal. Tip your waitress.
