Iranians don't hate Americans: Ahmadinejad
Actually, nobody in this part of the world would hate anyone but Mr Bush. They don't even hate that Mr Bush but his anti-Muslim policies, expansionist mindset and boorish measures to find solutions to problems like terrorism and increasing anti-American sentiments.
Tehran, Feb. 26(AP): Iran's hard-line president told a group of American ministers that his fellow citizens do not have anything against Americans, but oppose U.S. policy in the region, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
``The Iranian nation does not hate or oppose the American people,'' the agency quoted Ahmadinejad, as saying during a meeting with American ministers on a trip to improve relations between the peoples of Iran and the United States.
Ahmadinejad's comments came the day before a meeting in London of the permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany to discuss measures additional to those in a Dec. 23 resolution imposing economic sanctions on Iran for not halting uranium enrichment.

It is interesting that the argument Ahmadinejad makes here is in some ways the ideological parallel of the Bush administration's argument that America does not hate Iranians, and more broadly, Muslims. The relentless Down with America propapaganda has made Ahmadinejad's case harder to make convincingly, but it is more than likely true that large numbers of Iranians do not wake up in the morning thinking about hating Americans,or about the duties of jihad, or about anything except having a cup of tea and getting the kids to school on time.
