Thomp. on new Technology<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
During the weekend March 17th to the 18th 2007 I took the show (me) on the road to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Las Vegas for all-star weekend festivities in Nevada. All in all the weekend was a basketball junkies crack if you may say, never the less I did not come down from the high till I touched back down at YVR airport in Vancouver. But one moment that has stood out in my mind among many was a new technology called PACE. What is PACE you ask well lets just say it may be the new age of viewing major sporting events or even concerts in 3D miles away from the event on the silver screen. I was lucky enough to go to a special viewing of the actual all-star game in the Mandalay Bay hotel/casino convention center thanks to a friend who writes for Newsweek. Using their own Sony cameras at the Thomas-Mack arena PACE made me feel like I paid 6000.00 dollars to sit among the stars on the floor of the hardwood court. The up close 3D action made me forget I was miles away in a theater wearing 3D glasses. I was so close that when Jay-Z bent over to whisper to Byonce I wanted to tap his shoulder and say she with me! So close that when a loose ball flew in to the crowd I put my hands out to catch it! I can see this technology being a big hit in the future to the common folks like me who can not pay the large sums of money to partake in these events live. PACE should not only limit its self to major sports events like the super bowl or the NBA this technology can be used to see high priced concerts or high publicized Las Vegas shows thus another revenue stream. Instead of booking plane and hotel ticket you can jump in your car drive to your local I-Max Theater and save a couple of thousand. The official launch of PACE will happen during the NBA playoff '07 in selected theaters. If you love watching sport this is a must see!<thomp><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
