To disdain of Israeli pork lovers, the coastal town of Netanya has moved to ban the non-kosher meat. Israeli pigs however are probably quite happy about it.

The city council of Netanya, Israel, has banned the sale of pork within the city, leading opponents to threaten to take the issue to the Israeli High Court.

Netanya Mayor Miriam Fierberg said after the bylaw passed with only four of the council's 25 members opposing that the Israeli Knesset should pass a law to ban pork sales in the entirety of the country, Ynetnews reported Tuesday.
