IVSNN's Channel

WMAT is I guess you can say is our “callsign”. It stands for W-MATthew ( my first name ). It was originally IVSNN, then about five or six months later, IVSNN was concieved. IVSNN meaning Internet Video Streaming News Network. IVSNN was founded in August 2007. Have no clue as to what led me to start this. I guess it was because it was around the time I started to pay attention and watch the news more and more. I guess you can say I kinda got “hooked” to the news, in a certain sense. I became more and more interested in the news and in broadcasting, and WMAT was and idea that I had; If I ever started a radio or TV station, those would be the call letters. So, I spent a good year figuring out what WMAT and IVSNN would be. In September 2008 I got out and started covering news around my neighborhood of Parma. I eventually hope to branch out, and expand, and cover more events occuring in and around Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

I currently cover news stories, using a film SLR used for a photography class, a $60 voice recorder, and a microphone. If your from Cleveland, you will begin to see IVSNN’s microphone more and more in the coming months and within the next year. I will eventually purchass new photo equipment ( a camera, and lenses ), as well as video equipment. With video the video equipment IVSNN will truely be the Internet VIDEO STREAMING News Network. The photo equipment that will hopefully be purchased this fall, will better help me in covering events. It will be faster, and more effecient using a digital SLR, as opposed to a crappy film camera. Once video equipment is aquired, I will be a over Cleveland, covering more events, and you can expect to see more videos of me reporting on a certain story, as well as RAW video.

Videos and pictured will be posted on my Flickr, YouTube, and NowPublic accounts. I would describe myself as an obessive news junkie. I am always paying attention to the news, and I watch a wide variety of news programs on different networks. I pay careful attention to local news, and when I hear about an event occuring near me, I get very involved, using all the resources available to me to find out more about the event. In some cases I will go out with my camera and microphone, take some pics, and ask some questions. I hope that these sites will become more and more popular, as I gain more noteriety in the community.

The intended purpose of this site is to provide an alternative news source to the people of Northeast Ohio. Alternative media is the future of the “old media”, the internet is gaining more and more popularity, as more and more people use their computers and the internet to find out what is happening in the world. As alternative or “new media” as I call it gains popularity, “old media” such as newspapers are going out of business, or becoming online based. WMAT/IVSNN News is one of two alternative media outlets here in NE Ohio. The other is TMCNEWS which is based in Elyria, IVSNN is currently based in Parma. Within the next two years I hope to make IVSNN Cleveland’s biggest alternative media outlet.

ABOUT ME: I’m Matthew Westfall the head of IVSNN’s one man team. I am 16 years old, and currently reside here in Parma. I enjoy doing this in my spare time, whenever anything newsworthy is happening around me.
