Few artists personify their generation as iconically as does Jim Morrison of the 1960’s phenom band, THE DOORS.

And with each passing year since untimely death in 1971 at the age of 27, Morrison’s myth and legend continues to grow.

Now, 36 years after his passing, a few bits of Jim Morrison’s legend have been preserved for the ages…and, fittingly, the objects of THE DOORS memorabilia just happen to be…DOORS!

And not just any doors! These doors are, in fact, the original doors from Morrison’s childhood home in Clearwater, Florida. Fallen to the ravages of time and disrepair, the "Light My Fire" legend’s home was about to meet the business end of a wrecker’s ball, when some enterprising land developers decided to salvage the home’s original doors, and engage local artists to emblazen the plain wood with images that typified the "Lizard King."

Artist Doug Wright, too young to remember THE DOORS first hand, researched the man behind the myth, with some amazing results- two large doors, each bearing likenesses of Jim Morrison, surrounded by various mystical symbols from famous DOORS songs.

Also in tow are several smaller doors, from kitchen cabinets and, of course, the bathroom medicine chest.

The first of these commissioned DOORS’ DOORS are now being offered on ebay, with the auction to end on Saturday, September 1, 2007.

Proceeds from the sale of the painted Doors’ doors will benefit the Largo Cultural Center in Largo, Florida.
