UP TO 200 people from Barclaycard's Northampton headquarters have been told they could lose their jobs.

Managers called staff at the Brackmills headquarters into a meeting yesterday where they were told jobs would have to be cut from the card acquiring and corporate business side of the firm..

Widney Cabs went into administration on January 22 with the immediate loss of 84 jobs. A further 100 people were told not to return to work last Friday.

''The sure signs of recession are here in Northamptonshire. Its been a long time coming and many warnings have been voiced since 9/11. Trouble is, Public money at this time is mainly being spent on foreign policy, but very little public money is being spent on Britain''. liamssoft
