John Cleese to quit comedy

The mighty John Cleese is retiring from the Minsitry of Funny Walks and taking up a new post as professor of funny.

The legendary Python star told The Times that he didn't believe he could top his infamous comedy Fawlty Towers so will concentrate on teaching up and coming writers the "basic principles" of comedy.

He told the paper that he feels "It is very rare to see someone with that grasp of old fashioned comedy" and that "The last tusly excellent performance I saw was Eddie Izzard. But Ricky Gervais is also a match for the great American sitcoms".

To be honest though I'd happily pay to watch a regular Cleese Comedy Classrom featuring the great man in a tweed suit giving a lecture (including long pointy stick and blackboard) on the 'basic principles' of comedy.
