Jurors reach partial verdict in Passaro trial
RALEIGH — The jury in former CIA contractor David Passaro’s assault trial reached a verdict Wednesday on some of the four charges that he illegally beat a prisoner while stationed at a remote base Afghanistan.
The jury is set to continue deliberations today. While it deliberates, the verdicts it has reached are being kept secret.
Passaro, a Lillington resident and former Army Special Forces medic, is charged in federal court with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
The maximum prison sentence for these is 10 years for each count, or a total of 40 years.
