Karl Rove incites protest on AU campus
The most interesting thing about this relatively small-scale protest at Washington's American University is that media reports set the number of protesters at "more than a dozen," which seems to be a wild underestimation, based on the sounds of the protest that you can hear in this YouTube video. The quality of the vid itself is pretty low, but just listen: does this sound like "more than a dozen" to you? It sounds like a lot more to me...and YouTubers seem to agree, based on the comments people wrote on the video.
A pretty active protest, I'd say, considering this is a private university with just under 10 000 students.
Also, I don't know about you, but if some "security official" (either one of Rove's or a campus cop) picked me up and carried me away when I was staging a peaceful protest, I'd be a little miffed.
Rove was on the campus to talk to the College Republicans, but when he got outside more than a dozen students began throwing things at his car, an American University spokesperson said. The students then got on the ground and lay down in front of his car as a protest.
The students said security officials picked them up and carried them away so Rove could leave.
