NP Rank:
Kissinger testifies of "secret Iraq plan"
I have seen this nowhere else - Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank's fiendlish skewering of Henry Kissinger's testimony before a Senate committee yesterday in the nation's capital. Milbank is far too sophisticated a writer to have made comparisons between Kissenger and Dr. Strangelove, but I am not. Here's a sample:
Kissinger responded with a guttural sound that the transcript labeled "(inaudible)."It must have been a terrifying hearing for stenographers, who recorded Kissinger's utterances with phrases such as "we should avoid its (inaudible) deployment" and "we should work in the direction that will (inaudible) for maximum stability."
You should however read the entire column. Both Kissinger and Baker essentially humiliating themselves with their attempts to ingratiate themselves, to stay in the aphrodisiac of political power. It's quite sad, actually.

Here is a watershed NowPublic moment for me. I posted this item just a few minutes ago, then looked for recent Kissenger photos on the web and found one by Edyson...emailed this person and within maybe 2 MINUTES the photo had been posted.
Sometimes I am gobsmacked by this whole thing...many thanks, Edyson!

The photgraph is a great story in itself. My fantasy of a three way interview is one where Kofi Anan interviews Kissinger and Dick Cheney. The transcript could almost be a musical score:
Anan: Melodius, melodius, "prospects for peace"
Kissinger: grr haumph " ve have permanent interest in the region"
Cheney : haaumph grrrr "obey or we all die"
Anan: melodius, Melodius...
You get the picture.
