Holocaust survivor organization heads on Wednesday rejected the government stipend granting a monthly allowance of NIS 83 to 120,000 survivors, and called upon all organizations, survivors and their families to join their protest entitled “March of the Living,” planned for Sunday. (see more


   Israeli stipend offends Holocaust survivors. Government would pay $20 a month to those who are destitute.  “..Beginning next year, the amount allocated for 120,000 needy survivors, about half the total number still living in Israel, will be $28 million annually, according to Olmert’s statement. That works out to an average of $20 a month for each survivor.”  (see more)


Comptroller to probe treatment of Holocaust survivors by gov’  t...In a tempestuous and emotional meeting, several of the group representatives raised suggestions for extreme forms of protest, including self-immolation in front of the Knesset. The representatives are considering asking the German government to pressure Israel to change its position and are also weighing the possibility of asking large Jewish organizations to sever ties with Olmert.  PMO, survivors meet, agree to negotiate new allowance:

To Brian Kennedy.


 I update the story.    After a tsunamy of protestations trheatening to put Olmert's government in a bad positin, the sole possible remaining move was to increase the monthly stipend by a fair amount of money.

  As a visual artist, I have a collection of comics books including Maus of Art Spiegelman. an incredible artist.  Maus is much more than an ordinary comics.
