North and South Taiwan celebrates the full moon with an annual lantern festival and this year was bigger than ever.  Colourful lanterns in all sorts of shapes and sizes light up the night sky, the most popular lantern this year is the pig.

This week-long event included hourly fireworks displays, colored water fountains, and light shows on the water.

While the northern Taiwanese lighted up the lanterns, the southern Taiwanese tried to use firecrackers to expel bad luck.

I think the title of the article it misleading/confusing.  Really, "lantern festivals lit up" all of Taiwan, not just the capital city.
