A Closer Look At The iPhone

From a feature standpoint it does less then my phone now (the htc tytn) and many others on the market already today - AND it costs more! I'm hopping they'll allow third party applications (also available for my phone, but few are open source) and maybe they will push some innovative ideas, but I've yet to be impressed with the generation 1 of the iphone... but i'm not selling my aapl stock yet :)

The handset will be available in the US from June 29 and will cost £250 for the 4Gb model or £300 for the 8Gb version.

No date for its release in Britain has been given, but analysts expect it to hit the shelves before Christmas.

Apple confirmed the launch after the first TV adverts for the iPhone were broadcast in the US at the weekend. It hopes the device will change the way people use mobile phones in the same way that its iPod altered music fans' listening habits.
